Albert Pinya lives and works in Palma, like an enfant terrible. The Pinya’s poetics is simple, but energetic and dynamic. Through drawings, painting, sculptures and installations he creates an imaginary scenery full of figures and colours… the Pinya’s Universe. His artworks are inspired by films, TV series and cartoons.

Pinya won the Medal of Honour at BMW Award 2016; the Arco Madrid Prize by the Spanish Association of Critics. In 2007 he received the First Prize of the Art Jove, Illes Balears program and was selected by the Italian curator Achille Bonito Oliva to be part of the exhibition No more going on, The game’s on, at the Vostell-Malpartida Museum, Cáceres, Spain. In 2008, he started moving into the international scene with exhibitions in Spain and Europe, China, America.

In recent years, he has participated to exhibitions such as Panta Rei. Towards a new paradigm at Pelaires Contemporary Cultural Center (Palma de Mallorca, Spain); Hybridizations: the ghost of painting curated by Susana Sanz at White Box in Beijing, China; Recent Works curated by Gianluca Ranzi at MAC-Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Lissone, Monza, Italy; Micrografts (Bypass) curated by Tolo Cañellas at Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art, Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Seen and not seen in Baleares curated by Lorena Martínez de Corral at Matadero, Madrid, Spain; Lost in Chaos curated by Rossella Farinotti at Palazzo delle Stelline, Milan, Italy; Proud to be a painter curated by Alberto Zanchetta at Allegra Ravizza Gallery, Lugano, Switzerland. In 2016 he was special guest artist at the 19th edition of the Hausacher Leselenz Poetry Festival curated by the poet José F. A. Oliver, Hausach, Germany.
