ARONNE PLEUTERI_Erba 2001

Aronne Pleuteri graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Painting, he is a multifaceted artist whose research places its foundations on movement. From painting to performance, up to video and sound art, the movement is understood in the idea of rejecting a dogmatic language of expression of experience, to pursue the desire to embrace its elusive paradoxes. With a visionary appeal lent by forms of mass representation such as cartoons, comics and internet culture, thanks to the veil of irreverent irony, Pleuteri skilfully stages heavy taboos masked in their apparent lightness: Death, Illness, Violence, Pain, but also the complex relationship with the machinery linked to coal, are now the colored masks that stir up an endless tragicomedy. Pleuteri‘s pictorial research is inserted into this poetic terrain: fairy-tale characters initially tortured through narrative devices such as slipping, falling, pitching by crows, are now exposed – after his move to Milan – to shocking clashes with reality of urban life. It is the symptom of a lost and no longer representable landscape: the space of gray imposes itself violently in Pleuteri‘s canvases in clumsy attempts at monochromes which materialise, on the contrary, in radiant explosions of light.
