Martina Corbetta presents Elisa Bertaglia’s recent and unprecedented project based on the obsessive study of materials and compulsive investigation of the concept of metamorphosis and threshold. The new series is the continuum of the recent solo exhibition Concerto. Singing over the Bones curated by Rossella Farinotti and it is the result of two months of study and research between Manhattan and upstate New York in which the influence of travel, exhibitions, artists and the American hallucinogenic palette have determined first of all a change in tone: the artist has used harsher and darker colors, opposed to a drawing necessarily more and more meticulous and evocative.

Nature, inspired by the American landscape, is revised and reinterpreted through the lens of imagination, dream and memory. No element of the painting is intended to be decorative or descriptive, let alone illustrative. Everything is part of a necessary balance and a complex composition, which aims to articulate a language and a symbolic narrative.

Through an oneiric and symbolic language, I obsessively investigate the concept of threshold as a metamorphosis, a different place in which children and wild beasts, bones and plants are the symbols of the short circuit of the compendium of rituals and rules that celebrate the passage between non-consciousness and awareness.
